Food

Feeding Liam has never been an easy thing–so I’m not entirely sure why I thought that he’d take to eating solids easily.  He didn’t.  For about a month we’d been trying to feed him rice cereal.  The result of this was pursed lips and screaming (until I tried to put the spoon close to his open mouth, he realized what was happening, and promptly pursed his lips again).  We have video, but uploading that is a pain so this picture will have to suffice:

Thankfully–after more than a month of trying (and switching from rice cereal to sweet potatoes) we had success (please pardon the red eye):

The first day we tried sweet potatoes he tolerated them (which was a vast improvement over rice cereal) and finished 1/3 of a container.  The second day he wasn’t so sure when we started out but by the end had finished an entire container and was popping his mouth open like a baby bird after each bite (and getting very angry when I didn’t open the new container fast enough).  By the third day (which is when I took the picture above) he ate an entire container without any hesitation and learned how to spit sweet potatoes far enough to hit me with them.  At first I was irritated that there was so much food everywhere.  Then he laughed after each spit.  I laughed with him.  We’re in big trouble.

If you made it to the end of this post I’ll reward you with a link to the new SmugMug gallery:  Here it is.

Happy 4th!

Liam lately

Liam’s growing and learning more every day.  He’s recently learned to sit:

He’s also cutting two teeth and pooped in the bath for the first time.  I don’t have pictures of the teeth yet, as he’s pretty uncooperative about me looking inside his mouth and I didn’t take a picture of the bath poop because, well, it’s poop…

We’ve also had the chance to hang out with all sorts of family members lately.

Here he is with Mo and Greatmama (Shannon’s grandmothers):

And here he is with Pok, Granddaddy, and Mom:

He’s also learning to pull up on the sides of his crib, which has resulted in the removal of the bumper, the zippy zoo, and the mobile (since he tried to pull up on that, too).  It now looks like baby jail–which I guess it sort of is…I don’t have any pictures of that yet, but I’m sure I will soon.

Hopefully updates will be more frequent since my last day of paid work at CCW is on Monday and I’ll have a bit more time to post here.  Hope all is well with everyone out there in internetland.

Finally!

So Liam’s officially only developmentally delayed by two days…YAY!

He finally rolled over last night to much fanfare by his mother (of course). He was playing in his activity gym and then he finally made it all the way over from his back to his stomach. He immediately grinned from ear to ear and laughed at me–until he remembered that he hates being on his stomach and realized that he didn’t know how to get back…I turned him back onto his back and he promptly turned himself over onto his stomach again and grinned at me.

So it begins…

Announcement, finally…

So finally I’ve gotten around to posting about the announcement Matt mentioned in the last post. You’ll have to excuse the tardiness–I’ve got a 4.5 month old who is just learning how to nap!

Drum roll please…

As of August 1st I will become a stay-at-home mom!

There are many factors that played into this decision and I’m extremely grateful to have the ability to make this choice. Without going into too much detail it was simply the right choice for our family and I’m really looking forward to getting to watch Liam grow every step of the way! I’m also really looking forward to having more opportunities to see all the local folks since it’ll be much easier to find the time to do more than eat, sleep, and take care of Liam (hopefully!).

Since I’m well aware that the best part of this blog is the eye-candy we’ll try to get new pictures up in the gallery very soon and I’ll try to do my part to update more often especially after the end of July rolls around!
